HCP HEADACHE GIG 3 Sunday, August 4'th, 2013

STOIC VIOLENCE (Cali. excellent blend of old and new)
SIN MOTIVO (Tx hardcore)
TOUCH (new Detroit punk)

@tba

Stoic Violence's 12" MLP is on the side of best hardcore records of 2013.  I can't pigeon hole them other than the vocals remind me a lot of Artie's style and sound in Celebrity Murders.  Celebrity Murders in general is the closest thing to Stoic Violence I can think of.  Stoic Violence is a breakfast smoothie of multiple hardcore sounds that they blended well.  Unlike Celebrity Murders, Stoic Violence is more aggro and straightforward, more hardcore.  Songs are short and pretty pissed off.  Does that work?  I don't know.  A couple of other touring bands bowed out of this gig and Sin Motivo stepped in.  My brain must be more fucked up than I thought cause I have some band to use as a comparison for Sin Motivo.  I can't remember the band for the life of me, but that band is definitely fucking awesome.  Touch Of North America or Touch as I refer to them have only been around a minute.  I think somebody dropped something about Husker Du somewhere, sometime in reference to Touch.  A lot of that whole Virginia hardcore/screamo whatever shit of the late 90's and early 00's, you know what bands I'm talkin' about, works too.  Actually just take those two together and shit on the dynamics those bands had and stick the core of it.

FAKE SURFERS
I PALINDROME

I read somewhere a description of Serenghetto that I found to be really damn accurate.  I am just gonna steal that.  It said something about Thin Lizzy so imagine if Whiskey In The Jar was written by some punks.  Kinda going a little last minute on this show and hopefully you will read this and decide it's wicked awesome and go.

HCP HEADACHE GIG 0.5 Moday, March 18'th, 2013

BRAIN TUMORS (MN gauze / die kreauzen love child)
RAW DOGS (wolf man rock)
HOOD RAT (Philly thrash)
KARMIC LAVA (stoner/doom metal)
SSS (hardcore)

$6
18+
New Dodge Lounge, 8850 Jos. Campau, Hamtramck

The Brain Tumors and the Hood Rat show were combined and the other half of the booking party are in the midst of lining up a different show for another Minnesota band.  I forget who.  When said band heard about Brain Tumors playing here they had this opinion to offer 'Brain Tumors are the best hardcore band in Minneapolis.' and added they have a powerful live presence.  If you don't believe when I tell you this is something you don't want to miss know that I got "people".  Generally speaking I am not too sure I know what I'm talking about most the time but I still  have a good feeling that Brain Tumors is the great band I say they are.
